For example: Half Olympic size pool at the Newport Beach Tennis Club, California, was fitted with a Saline Purification System in 1999. The pool is heavily used with up to 400 swim-club and social swimmers using the pool per day, for most of the year. No ‘pool chlorine’ has been added to the pool in those 3 years and the water is constantly crystal-clear with chlorine levels well within the range stipulated by local Health Authorities. All other water maintenance and water-balance features (ph control, etc) remain exactly the same as before the Saline System was fitted, but no ‘pool chlorine’ or algaecides are required.

Because the Saline Purification System is relatively new in the USA (despite 30+ years popularity in other countries) some Saline System products are yet to gain the necessary NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) classification so are not permitted on commercial (public) swimming pools in certain US states.
